London Oriana Choir was founded in 1973 and has become one of the UK’s leading choral groups. Their repertoire ranges from the great choral masterpieces of Verdi, Brahms, Mozart and Handel to contemporary commissions and they have performed with well-known modern industry names such as Madonna, Robert Plant and Pete Townshend.
The choir is led by Dominic Ellis-Peckham, who has worked with the Royal Opera House, English National Opera and the National Youth Choir amongst others. In April 2016, the choir launched five15, a five-year programme to promote women composers by commissioning fifteen new works which have been performed in concert programmes in the UK and abroad, workshops, recordings and other activities.
Throughout lockdown the choir continued to meet on a weekly basis through Zoom and were able to promote a series of online concerts featuring a mix of pre-recorded and home-recorded music as well as contributions from other choirs from around the world.
