About the Event

As part of ROUTES & ROOTS - Festival of the African Diaspora, a two-week festival celebrating Black History Month, we're inviting you to try different activities from the African Diaspora: dance, drumming, spoken word, and more! You can also build props and/or learn skills to BE PART of the carnival itself!

STAGE SHOW - BOMBED OUT CHURCH - 31st October, 5-7pm - No pre-booking required (OTD).

- Limited space available on a first come first served basis.

- Doors open at 4.30pm.

- All ages welcome.

Some of the acts you'll see include: ‘Voodoo Vibes’ a collaboration by Katumba drumming, vocals by Amber and spoken word by Addae Gasking, nephew of the one and only Godfrey Holder, the voodoo priest in the classic James Bond film; ‘Jump Up and Be Seen’ carnival dance showcase by Movema, Levi Roots and his inspired poetry to name a few! All interspersed with fire, puppetry and magical projection displays.

The first female UK City Mayor, Joanne Anderson, will be opening the event and marking the official launch of BlaST* -Black & Brown Social Traders Network, of which Katumba is a part of, and who collaborated on ‘Routes & Roots - Festival of the African Diaspora’
