This free event is part of Chinese New Year 2023, Liverpool’s free festival.
This spectacle invites communities around Liverpool to come together and celebrate, through a modern and stunning projection show and light installation at St Lukes Bombed Out Church.
For the Year of the Rabbit, Focal Studios are partnering up with artists Eleonora Asparuhova and Laura Sullivan to create a magnificent focus for celebrations at the Bombed Out Church. This will take the form of a 6 minute projection show on the tower inside, and a community light art installation situated in the grounds.
The Lunar Rabbit is a contemporary story about hope developed with Pagoda Arts and the local Chinese community. The story will reflect themes in response to the Rabbit’s personality, such as vigilance, wit, quick-mindedness, and ingenuity; as well as stories and aspirations of community members in the city from other nations that celebrate the lunar new year.
Wong Dumplings will be serving up some delicious dumplings, inspired by Asian & European cuisine and Bombed Out Church Garden Bar & Cafe will have hot & cold drinks available too!
Community workshops will also take place during the day on the Sunday, where the general public is invited to create Chinese zhezhi rabbits containing messages of hope for 2023.
We look forward to seeing you at the Bombed Out Church this Chinese New Year!
